A year after the storm, clouds loom for Staten Island businesses

A year after Superstorm Sandy struck Midland Avenue in Staten Island, almost one-third of the strip's businesses are shuttered. Many don't plan to reopen. This short documentary follows Midland Beach residents as they attempt to rebuild, and considers how their personal choices will shape the fate of the neighborhood they love. This video was submitted to the Jesse H. Neal Awards with a collection of videos that I produced in my first year at Crain's New York Business, earning the publication a "Best Use of Video" award among business publishers nationwide.
